Patient education is a very important part of what we provide here at RP Dental & Implants, because a well-informed patient is usually a healthier patient! So, you can always rely on us to answer any smile-related questions you might have. Below, we’ve gone ahead and answered some of our most commonly asked questions, but you’re welcome to give us a call if there is anything else you’d like to know!

How often should I see a dentist?

On average, a person should visit their dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning to prevent common dental issues. And, it’s also wise to schedule an appointment if you experience any out of the ordinary symptoms, like oral pain, damage, or swelling.

Should I use a manual or electric toothbrush?

Both types of brushes are effective at removing plaque and food particles that could lead to cavities, but in multiple studies, electric brushes are shown to provide a deeper clean because the bristles are able to move faster than what a person can recreate. What’s most important, however, is that you brush at least twice a day for two minutes each.

Which one is best: bridges, dentures, or dental implants?

The best tooth replacement solution for each patient will be different depending on their situation, so there isn’t a “right” choice for everyone, but rather a right choice for the individual. When you come to see us for a consultation, we’ll go over all these options in detail so you can easily decide which one would suit you.

Is Invisalign just as effective as metal braces?

When it comes to correcting mild to moderate misalignments, yes, Invisalign is able to perform just as well as metal braces. For more extensive issues and malocclusions (crooked bites), however, metal braces might be better, but we can let you know if this is the case at a consultation. In our experience, most of our patients are good candidates for Invisalign.

How long will it take to replace my teeth?

There are many factors that can influence how long it takes to replace someone’s teeth, and the best way to get an estimate is to come see us for an in-person consultation. On average, simple cases can take just a few appointments, while more complex ones may take closer to a year.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

RP Dental & Implants is able to accept dental insurance plans from several providers, and we even file our patients’ claims on their behalf to make the reimbursement process as easy as possible. To learn how we could use your particular plan, give us a call today.
