Dr. Rishit Patel
For Dr. Patel, the best part about being a dentist is watching someone transform thanks to the smile he’s given them. He’s seen countless patients fill up with refreshed confidence and hope because of their new teeth, and it makes him look forward to work every day. He’s been practicing dentistry for 12 years so far, and he’s eager to help even more people for decades to come. Why did you decide to become a dentist?
Dr. Patel was inspired by his grandfather who was a physician. He knew he wanted to be in the medical field from a young age because it would give him the ability to positively change people’s lives. He decided that dentistry would give him the best chance to follow this passion while also allowing him to dedicate plenty of time to his family. These days, he couldn’t be happier with his decision!
Where did you study dentistry?
Dr. Patel’s dental training started in his native India, where he received a Bachelor of Dental Science degree from the Government Dental College in Ahmedabad. After making his way to the U.S., he eventually graduated from Boston University with his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Since then, he has dedicated much of his free time to continuing education, completing courses focused on implant surgery, bone grafting, and Invisalign. He has also trained with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) to provide minimal oral sedation.
Dr. Patel stays on top of the latest breakthroughs in dental technology and research by being a part of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
What do you like to do outside of the dental office?
Life away from work is pleasantly busy for Dr. Patel, as he and his wife Marcela have a young daughter and are expecting another baby in early 2021. In his free time, he likes to play guitar, cook, and follow sports like cricket, tennis, and football (he’s a Patriots and Buccaneers fan). He loves taking his family to the beaches and springs in central Florida and also practices photography whenever he can.
